    waalaykum aasalam brother Muhammad Alshareef

In brief, the lesson I have learned so far is that materialism and ignorance of the Last Day of Judgement was the main cause for the nation of Thamood, but when we look at ourselves and around we find that everybody, except on whom Allah has His Mercey, is running after material things. In this respect we are never content and all our efforts and energies are directed to get more and better material things. We are so much occupied by this notion that a lot of us are forgetful of the Hereafter. Therefore to save us and the Muslim nation from the doom we must learn to be content with whatever little or more Allah has given to us , because no matter how much wealth we gather together, we are going to leave it behind after a certain period of time. Hence for a short period of having a luxusious life we should not igrnore Hereafter; rather our focus should always be on it. In this regard we must remembver the Quol of Ali, radi Allahi unhu : Fear of al-Jaleel and acceptance of al-Qaleel and action Bithtanzeel and preperation le Yoom Araheel.

    Jazak Allahi
    Khairun.

SubhanAllah, this is an amazing Lecture Seris. I can honestly say that I loved it just as much as Alakhira by shiekh Anwar Al Awlaki.

Sheikh Muhammad, Jazzaka Allah khair for your tremendous efforts.

I learned that with Allah’s mercy can we prosper. With Allah’s anger, we are walking our paths to our doom. We should be satisfied with whatever Allah has given us, the good and the bad and always be humble and obedient to Allah regardless of the power and status we hae, which is the cause of the fitnah that lead these nations to their destruction. Allah is merciful, obey Him and inshaAllah we will benefit, in htis Duniya and in the Akhera. If Allah held our rizq or Du3a in this Duniya, then know that Allah will reward you for it in the Akhera, if and only if you had sabr on the Hukm of Allah.

May Allah make us amongst the prosperous people of Yawmul Qiyama.

    Again, Sheikh, Jazzaka Allahu khaira.

    What did I learn?

Simple: Worship Allah and do righteous deeds and you’ll do just fine!

Shaykh, I had a question about visiting such places such as madain saleh, petra, erum etc. I heard that Muhammad (saw) covered his face and rushed through a part where the azaab of Allah had come and that we should avoid such places. Is that true?

JazakAllahu khayran in advance for answering this question.

I learned how to respond to ppl when they tell u to go have a huge wedding u cant afford or buy a huge house u cant spend time in since your constantly working to make its payments. Inshallah I will not work for the last 4yrs of my dunya but I will focus my attention on the eternity of the hereafter :D.

we learn from this that no power is mightier than the power of ALLAH(SWT).that it is not bodily strength we needto become strong but the strength of soul which believes in the oneness of ALLAH.jazak ALLAH.

  19. Misfit Muslimah said,

    Assalamu alaikum

Shiekh Muhammad, could you please explain how if Abu Raghal was of the Thamud and was killed when he left the Haram, he could still be around during Abraha’s time? Or are those two separate narrations about him?

Also, is there any information about what happened to the baby camel? Did Prophet Saleh and his followers take her with them?

    Jazak Allah Khair

  20. Misfit Muslimah said,

    Assalamu alaikum

I learnt that history is certainly repeating itself; that most people now are just as heedless as the ‘Ad and Thamud were. The part where you spoke about the Thamud mocking the promise of the calamity reminded me very much of the responses of the secular “free-thinkers” in the media to what several priests said about Katrina being a manifestation of the wrath of God.

Also, the bit about the attitude of indifference made me think about how complicit we all are in the wrongdoings committed around us. Truly, this is how Shaytan creeps into the hearts of the believers.

Then, there is the part about the lobbyists having essentially led the hoi polloi to the Hellfire. They (the elite) are doing now just what they did then.

    Seems like nothing ever changes…

Jazak Allah Khair for the amazing talks.

P.S. That was the first time I have heard you speak; inshaAllah I will now be a regular listener.

  21. Abu AbdAllah said,

bismillah. jazak Allah khayr for posting these lectures, especially for the brothers who did not stop until part 2 became available on google. 🙂 one thing i learned was a greater appreciation for Prophet Salih and a greater dislike of the people of thamood. i never knew as much about them as i learned from this halaqa. i seek refuge with Allah from the arrogance that filled the hearts of their mala, the weakness of spirit that made contemptible their “ants,” and the meanness that gave them all joy in their despicable deeds.

  22. Abu AbdAllah said,

bismillah. wherever the videos are hosted/uploaded, shaykh Muhammad, you may want to embed them here in your blog entries.

just in case you did not know how to do that, for example in Google Video: (1) upload the video normally, (2) go to the video’s page at Google, (3) click the “embed/email” button, (4) click the link for “embed” (yeah, first a button, then a link), (5) copy the embedding code, (6) paste that code into your blog entry. Done. 🙂

i think the process is even easier in Yahoo or Youtube, but those sites may take a longer time to approve each video.

    wAllaho’Alim.

why embed? one reason is that it keeps traffic on your blog site(s). and with google video, embedded videos still count towards a video’s popularity.

I learned a lot… but I always find it hard to express it 😀

Btw, I love all your speeches, they touch our hearts 🙂

JazakAllah for these awesome halaqas…I really need them…and there’s so many lessons to learn from them…I love the way you incorporate so many different aspects of Islam into a simple halaqa that I would expect to be about a single issue…Please continue to do such halaqas :). And I have to admit, I was very surprised when I saw your notes because I was expecting everything to be written as you said it. I’ve learned a few things about public speaking from that.
I’m still waiting for the 2nd part of this halaqa.
And I was wondering though..even though this isn’t related to the halaqas…is there any way we can sign up to get the Quran and Hadeeth reminders again. I tried submitting my email again but it doesn’t send me them.

I pray everythig is well with you. I missed episode 3 of Perished Nations. Is there one? Maybe I did not get the email?

I really enjoyed episode 2, now I know what “Naqat Allah”, is and why it is mentioned in the Quran.

    Bism ALLAH !

    Asalamu alaykum brothers and sisters,

Alhamdulillah, I first want to pray to Allah to bless, protect and shower His Mercy on our beloved Sheik and teacher Muhammad Alshareef and his family and that may Allah also admit him and his family to Jennah tul- firdaws. Ameen!!! and too all of us as well.
I am so fortunate to have Sheik Muhammad Alshareef as our teacher at Al-Magrihb Institute and MashAllah it is as if he was made to teach and give lectures and my God he does it so well. Sheikh Alshareef know that we are listening and benifiting and learning from your ilm. We ask that you continue, inshAllah!!
Not a lot of muslims, specially the younger generation know about these nations of before that perished. Yes they hear the names when they recite the Quran maybe but some probably don’t know what happen to these nations. So it is important to constently visit the stories of these nations. specially in our times. JazzakALLAH Lahu Khairan for remind us and to relate it to us this way. i am really scared for the state of the Muslim Ummah because we haven’t learned anything from these nations. Allah only changes the conditon of the people for a better condition when they start to change themselves so i pray to Allah that we become a nations of Muslims that will come together, that will go back to their Deen, that will mobolize and have one voice.
May Allah protect us and make us those who worship Him, alone and bring forth righteous deeds. Ameen!!!
